GOVERNMENT WILL ACCEPT STALLIONS. Washington. D. ., February IS. Six valuable thoroughbred horses to form the nucleus for breeding high-grade mounts for the 1nited States Cavalry, were formally tendered to Secretary of War Dickinson yesterday by their owner?. August Belmont offered three, and a like number were tendered by Edward 15. Cassatt, son of the late President A. J. Cassatt, of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and formerly captain of the Thirteenth United States Cavalry. One of the horses offered by Mr. Belmont is the famous Henry of Navarre. In all probability, it is said, the tenders will be accepted, as officials of the army see no legal objection to the acquisition of the horses by the government as gifts. Thomas Lawson has also offered a dozen of his best trotting stallions. One of them is said to be valued at JSO.OOO.
