JUAREZ TRACK A VERITABLE QUAGMIRE. KI Paso, Tex., February IS. Heavy rains, which converted the track into a veritable quagmire, materially affected the racing at Juarez today. The usual Saturday crowd was in attendance. There were many scratches and the peculiar track conditions made the selecting of winners a most difficult proposition, as was attested by the failure of a single public choice to win. The feature of the day was the La Victoria Handicap, for three-year-olds, a general withdrawal of those named overnight and the adding of four others left the talent at sea. Barney Schrelber added a tine-looking son of Golden Maxim All Balance in Captain Carmody, which had never before faced the barrier, and he proved to lie of some account by leading throughout. Although momentarily menaced bv Marjnrie A. in the stretch he drew away in a decisive manner to win handily. This good colt is a candidate for the Kentucky Derby and the Blue Grass Stakes and is likely to be a factor in these events. At a sale held in the paddock this morning the following horses iu training were sold: Tropical, ch. c. 2. bv Africander Florada. A. Greenleve. 75; Gold Fern. rn. f, 2. by Gold Heels Ano. T.
