SMILEY METZNER ran well and appeared the winner when opposite the betting ring, but tired in the final drive. THE SLICKER trailed for the first half and made up much ground in a rush through the stretch. PID HART set a good pace to the stretch turn and tired. ST. JOE showed early speed, but failed to stay. AL MULLER, after a long rest, came out good and fresh, showed much speed and hung on gamely DR. SMOOT was outrun all the way. CALISSE showed her usual sliced and ran forwardly from the start, but tired badly in the final hundred yards. LADY RANKIN broke flying and set the early pace, lint was shuffled rearward when coming out of the chute, then came again gamely. YANKER had a tempestuous journey and finished gamely.
