TOPSY ROBINSONS CAREER AT END. Tampa, Fla., February 27. Topsy Robinson fell while running in a forward position in todays fourth race. , Jockey Pickett, who had tlie mount, appeared to have been seriously injured, but later showed no ill effects. Topsy Robinson, as a result of her tumble, broke one of her front legs in two places and was destroyed.. A surprisingly large crowd was again in attendance and appeared to take keen interest in the sport. Well-backed horses accounted for most of the purses. Judge Monck of the Hamilton Jockey Club was among todays arrivals and will be here during the remainder of the week. He stated that extensive improvements are under way at the Hamilton track, including the construction of a steel betting shed 100 feet wide and 160 feet in length. A thirty-foot projecting hood will be built over the front of the grandstand. The improvements will cost over 0,-000. C. E. Patterson loaves tonight for Jacksonville, with Pirate Diana. Ruth Jackson and two other two-year-olds. Jockey F. Jacksou will accompany the consignment. The otlicials ruled off today a race follower named Johnson for having made remarks derogatory to the racing here. Tack Phillips returned today from Jacksonville with several two-year-olds that he will race here. There is talk of a fifteen-days race meeting to be held at Wheeling, W. Va., following the close of racing at Latonia in July. There is a good half-mile track at Wheeling, on which Smith. Colby and Jones have the lease.
