KINGS DAUGHTER DISAPPOINTS. Fails to Show Any of Her Wonted Speed in Handicap Taken by Guy Fisher. Jacksonville. Fla., February 2S. Guy Fisher showed a good performance in the feature race at Moneriof Park this afternoon when he picked up 110 pounds, set a dazzling pace and, after racing some ."peedy sprinters into early "submission, won witli something in reserve in 1:12 for tliree-ipiarters of a mile. Among those behind the winner were Thomas C. McDowells good race mare. Kings Daughter, and the Cesariou colt. Alfred the Great. The latter was in with a light iuiXst. being asked to carry but 110 pounds. Kings Daughter was making her first appearance of the season in tills race and on the strength of some brilliant work was well supported. She failed to display any of her keen speed iu the race. A race for gentlemen riders was provided as an additional attraction and it resulted in a good contest. El Oro. with a son of James Blutc In the saddle, won by a head from Goleonda. ridden by Frank Ortell. Goleonda came from lchind and, closing stoutly, would have won in another stride. Guy Fisher aud El Oro were the only favorites that scored. The two-year-old race furnished a driving finish, in which Erella was first home n nose In advance of Auto Maid. This pair raced like a team throughout and Krella was lucky enough to have her nose iu front in the final nod. Five of the races were selling affairs and, strange to relate, there were no run-ups or claims. Booth Thompson, a horseman from Kentucky, who shot a local man here Sunday night, aa a result of a c.ispute on a street car. Is still in jail, bail having been refused liending the condition of the victim, O. J. Pierce, a cashier in one of the wholesale houses here. Among the arrivals today were AV. Burke, who came from Tampa, and Tod Smith, proprietor of the Metropole Hotel of Detroit. The meeting here lias been a great success although there has not been as many books on as there were last winter. The attendance was light duriug the earlier days of the meeting, but during the past six : or eight weeks the crowds have been large. AVith the increased admission the chances are that the gate receipts show an increase over those of last year for the corresponding period. Recent work-outs at Mancrlef Park.
