JUDGES DISQUALIFY CAMEL MCARREN RACER LOSES PURSE AFTER FINISHING FIRST AT MONCRIEF PARK. Swerving in Final Strides Held to Havo Impeded Other Contestants and Offending Horse Is Placed Last Californians Arrive, Jacksonville, Fla., March 2. One of the few disqualifications of the long winter meeting at Mon-crief came with the running of the closing race this afternoon when II. McCarrens Camel was set back for swerving in the final twenty yards and carrying Dress Parade II. out with him. Only one other horse had been disqualified here this winter. Prince-like, and MeTaggart, who rode Camel today, also had the mount on that horse. Camel was one of the heavily backed choices. He was outrun in the early stages by Bodkin and Dress Parade II.. but was fortunate in squeezing through along the rail in entering the homestretch. He caught the leaders at the furlong post and in tho final drive outgamed Dress Parade II. AVhen Camel bore out at the cud, Discontent closed stoutly in the center of the track and Dress Parade II. was caught between the pair. In tho last few strides Gross was forced to pull up aud his claim of foul against Camel was allowed by tlic judges and the offending horse was placed last. The change gave first money to Discontent, second to Dress Parade II. and third to Detect. There were two run-ups during the afternoon. Amoret was boosted 00 by AAr. E. Suggs, but was protected and bought in by her owner. Spindle was also advanced after his- victory. Sam Louis carried him from 00 to 00 and secured him at the latter figure. Jockeys Byrne and Loftus each piloted two winners, the former having the mount on The Nigger and Spindle, while Byrnes success was scored in the first two races. A. F. Dayton and Tom Hatfield arrived from Tampa with their horses this morning. Jockey AVingfield came with the Hatfield stable. James Donohue, Joe Blume, Joe Hayman. John Isaacs and Benny Meyers were among a large delegation that arrived from California this morniiig. George Bain, the auctioneer who will dispose of the Pons and Chinn horses on Saturday, arrived tonight. - . Jockevs MeTaggart and J. AVilson were suspended-for a week by the judges.
