TAMPA MEETING TO CLOSE NEXT SATURDAY. Tampa. Fla.. March 4, Official announcement was made today to h6rsementhatMhe .raclpg -hero would .terminate ou Saturday next, March Jl, with the expiration of the sixty days Tor which the meeting was originally scheduled. Additioual advices to horsemen were to the effect that a three-weeks meeting at Pensacola. begining about March 20. was contingent on the presence there of sufficient horses to conduct the racing. The association will not advance shipping expenses to any of the owners and if enough of the latter can manage to land their racers at the west coast track the meeting will be held. Todays racing was featured by close finishes. Favorites were downed in live of the contests. Anderson being the only lirst choice to win. Charlie OBrien was again the medium for an attempted coup and he missed success by the narrowest kind of margin. After the finish of the fifth race there was a complaint of foul against Tom Sliaw for his interference with the others during the stretch drive, but the judges held him blameless and allowed the result to sfatid as the horses finished. All the horses that Barney Schreiber had racing here, were disposed of today by auction. The prices were good considering the quality of the stock. Trainer T, E. Crst, who bad charge of them, WJ1J return-tonight to the Schreiber farm in Missouri. Eugene Lutz will ship Messenger Boy. an American Derby eligible, aud other horses, to Jacksonville on Monday.
