NOTES OF THE TURF. J. E. Wideners Datura won the Prix du Var-niaudols at St. Oiicn, France. Friday. Jockey Notter, who has been idle all winter, is seUJug into condition for a summer engagement. Governor Glasscock, of West Virginia, permitted the anti-poolroom bill, passed by the Legislature of that state, to become a law without his signature. The program book for the first week of the .coming meeting of the Jamestown Jockey Club at Norfolk is. in the hands of the printer, and will be ready for distribution In a few days. It provides for six races dally and guarantees ,000 in added money, an average of about 30 ptir race. The latest applicants for stabling at Norfolk are Thomas Burns, W. C. Saunders, William Garth, David Dunlop, Thomas Ilattield, James McLaughlin, Silas Veiich, J. T. Temple, S. B. Billings and Theodore Cples. Woods Garth is already at the track, having, arrived from Albemarle County. Ya., with a string of seven, including Superstition, Tasteful. Ticket of Leave and four two-year-olds. At the annual meeting of the Turf and Field Club officers were elected as follows: Perry Belmont, president; F. K. Sturgis, vice.-president; John E. Cowdiu,. treasurer; Henry W. Hull, secretary; II. A. Buck, assistant secretary; R. T. Wilson, R. B. Vail Cortlandt and Middleton S. Burrill, executive committee; J. Searle Barclay, Jr., Henry W. Bull and; J. G. Livingston, house committee; F. K. Polk arid Winthrop Burr, governors. .Morton and Charles Schwartz, who have raced horses on the llat for several years, have joined tha United Hunts and formed a racing partnership with H. S, Page, a steward of the National Steepleehasa arid Hunt Association. The. combination has adopted the rianie "Air. Archdale" for purposes of racing, ami they will conline themselves to the cross-country sport. Mr.. Page will do the training and he and Ills partners will do the riding. Far West will be the main reliance of the stable.
