NOTES OF THE TURF. A sister to Shimonese and Powderman, owned by C. A. Crew, has bee,n named Amberite. John L. McMillan, aged sixty-live, widely known io turfmen of the old school as the friend, associate and one-time partner of the late .Maj. B. G. Thomas, died suddenly at Lexington, Ky., Friday froin an asthmatic attliction. Martin Nathanson, who served as handicapper. clerk of the course and steward at Oakland during the meeting which closed prematurely last month, has returned to his home in Chicago and will remain here until the time arrives for him to go west to take charge of the Butte, Anaconda and other nieet-ngs in Moutuua.
