GETTING BELMONT PARK READY FOR RACING Now York. Alarch 14. Superintendent William A. Gorman of the Westchester Dating Associations big plant at Queens has started in earnest on the work, of putting he courses under his ..charge in shape for spring racing. -The main and training courses, together with the steeplechase field, were dismantled last fall in order to give the aviators a clear field. A big force of men will lie kept on the Job Hcconr structing the timers stand, steeplechase course and other parts of Delmont Park that vere altered to meet last falls requirements.. Air. Gorlnan estimates that the splendidly equipped park will be in its former excellent condition ..before the end of .March. The rails of the training track were replaced during the winter and the soil is shaping up well. This is the favorite training ground in April and Alav for many of the big stables quartered at Bel-moiit Park. The liottom is solid and safe and its uniform cushion, with a depth of one aud three-quarters inches, makes it a particularly good course for the preparation of horses under suspicion. Fortunately this year the major part of the horses in training at Delmont Dark are perfectly ".sound. With a continuance of clear weather trainers Thomas J. Ilealey, Louis Feustel, Silas Veitch, William Hogan aud Richard F. Carman will at once commence training in the open. The stabling accommodations at the course are Ideal, all of the larger barns being enclosed. This has enabled horsemen to send their charges along smartly for the past fortnight. Such preliminary exercise is essential for early spring racing. Several long gallops, with some sharp moves, will fit horses intended for racing at Norfolk and Daltiniorc. Making Delmont Park ready for racing is the first practical move toward a seasons racing on the New York tracks for 1011. It will gladden the hearts of local horse lovers and plans for their favorite pastiriie will be made forthwith. Among the important stake events to be decided on this magnificent track this spring are the Delmont. for three-year-olds, at one mile and three-eighths; the Ladies, for three-year-old fillies, at one mile, aud the Juvenile, for two-year-olds, at five-eighths.
