ORDINARY CARD AT JUAREZ TRACK. Lack of Special Attraction Fails to Keep Down the Patronage Beau Man Beats Good Field. El Paso, Tex., March 30. Notwithstanding that one of the most ordinary cards of the meeting was provided for todays races, the usual good crowd was in attendance at Juarez and enjoyed a good days sport. All the races were well contested, the lin-ishes were close and exciting and form was well adhered to. three of the public choices being successful. The race at one mile attracted the best Held of the afternoon, although limited in size, and furnished the one real surprise of the days racing in the success of Beau Man, which set a hot pace from the start and won all the way in the fast time of 1:372, which is but one-fifth of a second slower than the track record, held by Harrigan. Col. W. K. Applcgate, who has been absent for .the past few days as the result of an attack of ptomaine poisoning, is about again and will rejoin the ranks of the layers tomorrow. J. II. Meade has acquired the ownership of Marian Casey, having purchased that useful inarc from J. Johnston this afternoon. Henry McDaniel lias been so impressed with the riding of the apprentice F. Hewitt, that he has secured the contract on that boy for the remainder of the year. Jockey Denny was suspended for the rest of the meeting" by starter Cassidy for disobedience at the barrier in the second race, in which lie attempted to beat the gate with Billy Taylor. J. Schreiber will ship the good colt Jim P.asoy and others in his string to Plmlieo at the close of the racing here. The success of Twenty-One in the first race signalized the 177th win for Henry McDaniel as trainer for R. I.. Thomas, all scored by horses handled by him from the time they were yearlings with the exception of three. At the close of the meeting here General Manager Winn and his efficient assistant. Harry Brcivogel. will take a holiday trip to California. Oregon and the Paget Sound country, and returning east over the northern route prior to resuming their duties at Churchill Downs. Jockeys Molesworth and Rooney divided the riding honors of the day. each witli two firsts. Ed Jasper, assistant secretary and one of the placing judges at Juarez, has departed for Louisville to he on hand to arrange quarters at Churchill Downs for the many horses which will be shipped there from Juarez and. the Florida -tracks,.. next week-.
