SILAS VEITCHS STRING OF JUMPERS. New York, April C. Harry K. Vinguts good cross-country marc, Waterspced, is now in Silas VeitcUs care. She was turned out at Mr. Vinguts rami over winter. Two seasons back this fast daughter of Watercress bowed a tendon in a race at Sheepshead Bay. On appearances she will train again, the ligaments being clean and firm. Water-speed was first put into active training only ten days ago and it is doubtful if she will be ready to race before the middle of May. Bishop and Baron Dieskau are going well in their gallops. Trainer Tcitcli thinks highly of this pair. They were schooled recently and went about their work like veterans. Inniskillen, a four-year-old brown- gelding in, the Veilch string, has had a lot of useful work of late. He will be on edge for the Pimlico meeting. Grandpa, whicii lias been a veteran for many years, never looked as well as lie does at present, and trainers of cross-country horses probably will have to reckon with him again this year. Black Bridge has not -taken a lame step in any of his work-outs. Last summer; when in winning form at Saratoga, Black Bridge broke down so badly that many thought his case hopeless. Trainer Veitch, a thorough horseman, and an exceptionally good man witli a cripple, has managed to bring the horse around. A bony enlargement on the off front pastern joint is to be seen, but the parts and foot arc normally cool.
