GOVERNOR GRAYS TRAINER IS CONFIDENT. Thinks His Charge Will Bsat Round tho World in the Kentucky Derby. Lexington. Ky., April 15. Of the thirty eligibles to the thirty-seventh Kentucky Derb3-, to bo decided at Louisville Saturday, May 13, nine are now at the Kentucky Association track, they being R. N. Smiths Governor Gray, in the stable of James Evcrman: E. R. Bradleys Bell Horse and Beach Sand: Martin Doyles Aloysius, in the stable of Jack Baker; H. P. Headleys Jabot, in T. P. Hayes string; J. C. Milams Labold: Irving H. AVheat-crofts Marlborough: Roger II. Wilsons Billikeu, in John Rodegaps string, and AV. J. Youngs Lesh. Bell Horse is the only one of the nine that is eligible to the Phoenix Hotel Handicap, at one mile and a sixteenth, which is to be the feature of the opening day here, April 29. Bell Horse, Governor iray and Marlborough are in the Camden Handicap at one mile and a quarter to be run May 0; St. Aloysius, Jabot and Governor Gray are candidates for the Blue Grass Stakes at one mile and an eighth to be run May 10. and Bell Horse and Beach Sand are in the Brewers Selling Stakes at one mile to be run May 11. the last day of the meeting. Of the Derby candidates in training at other tracks the following have stake engagements at the spring meeting here and, according to the present plans of their owners or trainers, will come to Lexington during the next two weeks: Phoenix Hotel Handicap Colston. Colonel llogan and Round the AVorld: Camden Handicap Meridian, Colston and Idloweiss: Blue Grass Stakes Meridian, Exemplar, Captain Carmody and Mud Sill. The Derby candidates having no stake engagements at the local meeting are Silver Brush, Ameri-caneer. Jack Denman, Bobs. La U Mexican, Rama-zan. The Royal Prince. Labold, fay Pay. Star ORyan. Sterliu. Common Sense, Fez, Sir" Dawn, Pit a -Pat, Billikeu and Lesh. The nine candidates here are all In good bodily condition and none have been pronounced out of the race by their owners or trainers, though several of them seemingly have little chance of victory. Governor Gray is, of course, the local favorite. .This half-brother to Waldo had many admirers here-abonts as a two-year-old and when he won the American Derby at Jacksonville, the number increased. If he .meets with no mishap in training and racing the coming month he will have heavy backing from the blue grass region when he goes to the post on the opening day at Churchill Dowiis.
