FREQUENT WINNERS OF THE PRESENT YEAR. Quite naturally the horse that is able to win races frequently occupies u higher niche in the esteem of the race-goers than does the racer whose name is only occasionally enclosed in the coveted brackets signifying a ivinning oflort. It is not given to every horse to be what is known as a consistent performer. In fact, in the natural order of things, many must lose where one wins. Therefore a horse that succeeds in winning a considerable percentage of his starts is accounted out of the ordinary. Superior training methods, coupled with good judgment on the part of the trainer in placing ills charge properly, unquestionably account iu great measure for the extraordinary consistency of some or our horses. In most cases, the ruggedness of the horse and his ability to thrive with racing contribute importantly to the results. Delicate horses are naturally Inconsistent and ditlicult to keep on racing edge. The records of the present year afford the usual illustrations of consistency- and Daily Racing Form today presents some examples. The case of Aspirin, the most frequent winner of the year, is especially striking. Last year, as a four-year-old, he won three races out. of eighteen starts and was placed uprfn seven other occasions. Coincident with a change of ownership, he showed marked improvement and his record for 1911 to date is eight firsts and one second out of twelve starts. This horses consistent racing has been accomplished in the colors of Capt. P. M. AAalker, a retired armv officer, for whom F. Schelke is trainer. There are numerous other cases iptite as iuterestlng to racegoers iu the subjoined list, embracing as it does, all the horses that have won four or more races on American tracks since the opening of the year: Horse.
