SMIRK dashed to the front at once and drew away into a long lead in the first quarter, then held the race safe and won in a canter. HANDRUNN1NG steadily improved his position and easily disposed of PYRAMID for second place. The latter outbroke the others and ran in nearest pursuit to the stretch, but was tiring and just lasted long enough to outstay KERRAN for third place. The latter ran forwardiy and finished gamely.
