NOTES OF THE TURF. The Belmont and Hildretli stables are well represented in the nominations for the Windsor stakes. Meridian, R. F. Carmans Kentucky Derby Candida te. worked a mile in 1:47 at Lexington recently with ease. The same day Governor Grav was sent the same distance in 1:45. The Chester Cup, a handicap race of 2,530 sovereigns, over a course of two miles and a quarter, was run Wednesday at Chester, England, and won by C. E. Howards four-year-old, Wilioiivx. by William the Third Tribonyx, carrying 114 pounds. F. Ambrose Clark was badly injured while hunting Iu England recently, and a horseman -who returned from Great P.ritain recently says It is doubtful if -Mr. Clark ever rides again. Mr. Clark, who is one of the wealthiest patrons of cross-country sport iu this country, was a daring rider. Richard Miller, who developed Africander and other good horses for Simeon Deimel and Charles Dw.ver, will again start training iu a modest wav. Trainer Miller has arranged to handle Little Earl and M. .M. Whitney, a couple of promising three-year-old maidens, for some newcomers on the turf This pair, now located at Belmont Park, will be raced on the Canadian circuit.
