MARCHM0NET TAKES LAGOON HANDICAP. Salt Lake City. Utah, June 8.— A card brimfnl with contention, with a handicap at six furlongs as the stellar attraction, and perfect weather conditions, attracted one of the lx-st crowds of the meeting to Lagoon Park today. The feature race marked the initial appearance of Eutield on the La-oon trick, and his debut excited more than ordinary interest because lie was always a great favorite with local race-goers. Sterlin. W. Mel.enioros good eolt, occupied the position of bonor in the estimation of handicapper Natlianson and was asked to concede weight to his opponents on the strength of his recent meritorious performances here. He ruled a well-backed second choice but. breaking slowly, could not overcome the disadvantage entailed at the start and made up little ground in the running of the race. Marchmoaet, running consistently, overcame Madmans lead and drew clear to Win handily in new track record time. The success of but two of the public choices gave the layers a good break. Heavy plunges on Ampedo and Arasee added to their winnings. Tippy, a good thing from the Carson stable, waa returned wlaaer of tin- tirst race after being heavily backed. Th. stable ,.f A. P.
