+ * STATISTICS ILLUSTRATIVE OP CHURCHILL DOWNS SUCCESSFUL MEETING •*, The spring meeting of the New Ixniisvllle Jockey Club, which opened at Churchill Downs May 13 and came to a close yesterday, embraced twenty-three racing days, during which 138 races were decided. The meeting unquestionably deserves to be characterized as ihe most successful of recent years at this long established racing center of honorable prestige. The racing, participated in by most of the best horses in training in this country, was of a caUber calculated to reflect credit on any racing association, no matter what its pretensions, and the patronage accorded it was in keeping with the excellent lass of sport provided. The distribution in stakes and purses was considerably in excess of former records, totaling the truly splendid aggregate of 04,440, representing a daily average of 4.341.
