Shannon was an odds-on favorite in his race, followed Ben Loyal to the Stretch turn and in a driving finish wore the latter down and heat him a head la the final stride. It was a great day lor the followers of favorites, four first choices and well -backed Second choice lieing the winners. The lacing conditions were perfect, the weather being warm and clear and the track in splendid condition. The attendance was up to the high standard of tin previous davs of the meeting and the sport of ex oellent quality. S. C. Hildreth furnished another Winner during the afternoon when Montgomery galloped home in advance of My Gal in the seventh race.
