: CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE DETROIT STAKES , The main feature of the racing at Windsor today, in value if not otherwise, will be the ninth running of the Detroit Stakes, for- two-year-olds. It was first run in 1901 and, after being repeated in 1902. was abandoned for two years. It was revived in 1005 and has been since then an annual feature of Windsor racing. Charlie Gilbert and Prince Imperial were undoubtedly the best race horses that have won the Detroit Stakes and both wore animals gifted with a high order of speed. Richard Reed and Ohiyesa were not so good, but were frequent winners and above the average. The record of the race is as follows: Year. First. Jockeys. Wt. Second. Wt. Third. Wt. Val.
