HEINE MARGOT, after running in close pursuit of the pacemakers to the stretch turn, wore MARY EMILY down and outstayed her in the final drive. MARY EMILY showed the most speed for a half mile and finished gamely, but was tiring at the end. COMMONEltS TOUCH saved ground all the way and finished fast. LADY McGEE began slowly, but closed a big gap and ran an excellent race. DAY MAY ran well to the stretch and tired. CALIFORNIA QUEEN showed early speed, but quit badly. WATERWAY went well and finished gamely, but hit a couple of fences and pulled up very lame. OCTOPUS fenced well and was easily best of the others. LIZZIE FLAT was eased up when she tired. EXPANSIONIST was barred in the betting and the race was paid olt on WATERWAY first, OCTOPUS second and DR. KOCH third. JACK DENNERLEN refused at the tenth jump. Overweights Jack Dennerlen, 5 pounds. BUSY followed the leaders close up to the stretch turn, from where he moved up fast and, taking the lead, was going away uuder a drive at the end. COLONEL ASHMEADE ran into the lead on the backstretch, but was driving hard all through the homestretch to outstay SPELLBOUND. The latter met with interference several times during the race, but ran well and finished gamely, although the winner swerved over in front of him on the stretch turn. OAKHURST was never dangerous, but finished close up. MONTCALM set the early pace, but tired after going three-quarters. Scratched 97225Grania, 105; 90951 Blackford, 109. FOLLIE LEVY was outrun to the stretch turn, but from there on she moved up rapidly and, wearing COHORT down in the last furlong, won going away. ROGON was a forward contender all the way and out-ganied COHORT in the final drive. The latter showed superior speed in pacemaking, but tired under pressure in the stretch. ROYAL METEOR was sharply cut off on the turn into the backstretch and went to his knees, then closed .1 bis gap into a fast going fourth. ROSE QUEEN set the early pace, but quit. The latter was a forward contender all the way, but was in close quarters until rounding the far turn, then finished fast. STRIKE OUT showed his usual early speed and set a fast pace, but quit when challenged. The others were outpaced. RUNNING ACCOUNT lost his rider at the start. Scratched 97224 Sir Alvescot.
