GERMAN AGENT AFTER THOROUGHBREDS. Representative of Kaiser Wilhelms Army Buying Horses in Kentucky for Cavalry Purposes. Louisville, Ky., August 3. I. Leyde, a representative of the, German cavalry service, is in Louisville on the lookout for thoroughbred mares and stallions, which are suited for cavalry service and are up to the requirements of the German army. He will buy only sound horses, but will purchase the animals regardless of their ability to run fast. During the recent Latonia meeting he secured a carload, which he shipped to Germany and he is now seeking to secure another shipment for that country. He goes from here to Fort Erie to look over some horses which have been offered to him at the Canadian track and then he will return to Kentucky to remain in this state until the fall racing circuit at Lexington, Churchill Downs and Latonia is over. Common Sense. Del Crazador, Meadowgrass and Patriot are among the horses Mr. Leyde has sent abroad. A letter from Eugene Elrod. now at Mt. Clemens, Mich., brings tho cheering news that he is daily improving and that he expects to be able to attend to his track duties at Lexington, Louisville and Latonia in the fall. He expects to stay tit the Michigan health resort during the month of August and return to Kentucky in September. W. H. Fizer, it is reported, has concluded not to transfer his stable of horses from Latonia to Churchill Downs until racing is resumed here iu the fall. The sick horses in the Fizer stable are all getting over their recent attack and are rapidly rounding to; in fact, there is now no sickness among the horses still at Latonia.
