ALL READY AT HAMILTON SECOND OF SEASONS MEETINGS AT THAT CANADIAN TRACK TO OPEN TODAY. Grandstand Recently Burned Is Replaced with a Temporary, hut More Commodious Structure Eight Races to Be Decided This Afternoon. Hamilton, Ont., August 11. Secretary Loudon, of the Hamilton Jockey Club, has fulfilled the promises made to racegoers and horsemen that everything would 1m; in readiness for the opening of the second suinmer meeting at the Hamilton course. Tlie temporary grandstand is temporary in name only. It is a complete and up-to-date structure and much roomier than t lie burned stand. Jt is solid and substantial, but will be demolished at the close of the meeting to make room for an immense steel and concrete structure. The main, track, the turf course and the steeplechase course are all in excellent condition and prospects for a successful meeting are exceedingly bright. There are fully GOO horses here and about 100 of the number are occupying stalls outside of the enclosure. All of the big stables that participated in the meeting at Fort Erie are here and there are some additions from other points. J. L. MeGinnis, A. C. Harms and Grant Hugh Brownes horses an; here from New York. The horses of .lames Frayling. John Fells and l S. P. Randolph came from Xarragansett Pier and William Walker arrived from Toronto. The Kandolph consignment Includes the good sprinters, Besom and Uacuet. both of which look to he in grand condition. Nat l!yer, who brought them here, left for Saratoga last night to take up All Red and others of the Randolph horses that have been resting at the Spa during the summer. The Frayling and Fells consignment consists of jumpers and steeplechase jockey Tuckey came with Mr. Frayling to do hist riding. Tomorrows program is made up of eight races, the features of which are the King George purse for Canadian-breds, the Branlford Handicap at one mile and a quarter and the August Steeplechase. There is also a mile and an eighth dash over the turf course. Owing to rain which fell last night the track Khls morning was a bit slow, but it promises to hi; -ast by tomorrow The card is evenly balanced and promises keen sport. The traius that arrived this afternoon brought a large delegation from New York and other points and indications are that the attendance will exceed that of the first meeting. The officials will lie the same as during the previous meeting. Joseph A. Murphy will act as steward, A. 1!. Dade will do the starling and Francis Nelson and J. .1. Burke will serve as judges. Three of the Belmont three-year-olds are reported as having trained oft and will not go to the post for a month or six weeks. Flint Rock is ailing and liesldes has been limping, while Whist anil Footprint are on the shelf. The Belmont racers will he shipped to Belmont Park at the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting and in the event of racing being resumed at Belmont Park they will all lie in I grand condition. It is the general supposition that there muv be a bit of racing at some of the New York tracks in the event of favorable legislation at Albanv In September, most likely at Belmont Park, hut at all events the season will be a short one. If at all. Blitzen Jr., a two-year-old in the Tyree string, got out of his stall at tin; track lastdiight and was found grazing in a pasture about three miles from the course this morning. William Oliver, who is handling the Tyree horses, will ship the stable from here to Pimlico at the conclusion of the present meeting. The liorses will be raced at the Hunts meeting and at other tracks in the vicinity of Baltimore until the big meeting at Pimlico opens. James Fitzsimnions has tired and blistered Harvey F. and turned him out at one or the farms near here. He will take- up the horse at the con-elusion of racing in Canada and ship him to Balti "iviibel. which raced at. Dufferin Park, Toronto, was badlv cut down in her last start there and her owner was forced to remove her from the track in an iunbulaneu. It will be some time In-fore she faces the barrier again. . .lockev J. Howard is here from DufTenn Park and, provided lie obtains a license, will ride as a free lance during the meeting.
