SALEM TRACK TO BE AN AERODROME. Boston, Mass., September 2. The Rockingham Park race track at Salem, N. II., built by the late John W; Gates and John A. Drake, and valued at about 750,000, has been transferred to a- Boston syndicate represented by William P. Richardson, who will turn the property into an aerodrome. The new corporation will be the- New England Aviation Company, with a capital stock of ,000,000. Mr. Richardson has been working on the deal for some months. He is the man who made the Boston Arena successful. It is Mr. Richardsons plan to use the Salem property in the cold months for carnivals and winter sports, after the order of such events at Montreal and Saranac Lake. In addition to more than 00,000 paid for the land, some 300,000 or 00,000 was originally expended on the Salem race track. Then the governor of New Hampshire issued an order against poolsclling and the financial backers of the enterprise were obliged to abandon their plans. The taxes from that time on were unpaid, and finally a creditor secured a judgment of bankruptcy against the club. The recent purchase was made through the trustee in bankruptcy. It is the plan of the new owners to run aviation meetings and perhaps go into the manufacture of aeroplanes and maintain a Hying school.
