SPINDLE, after racing forwardly from the start, moved up steadily in the stretch and finally outstayed LAYMINSTER in a hot finish. The latter lost ground by going wide into the stretch and suffered slightly 011 the first turn, but ran a good race and linished gamely. DISCONTENT came with a good rush in the last quarter after closing a big gap. FORCE set a fast pace pressed by J. II. REED and the two raced each other into exhaustion. ELIZABETHAN tired badly. CIIAPULTEPEC ran well and finished fast through the stretch. LOVE-NOT tired after going a fast five furlougs. FOLLIE LEVY was away poorly and had scant chance. SWANNANOA seemingly could not get to going freely until after passing the half-mile ground, then came on fast, but tired in the stretch drive. SPOHN set the early pace, but quit in the last quarter. ADAMS EXPRESS fell away after going a fast three-quarters. CARLTON G. milled up sore.
