MARVELOUS SOUTH AMERICAN SALES. Nowhere else in the world Is the turf in a more flourishing condition than in Argentina, or to be more exact, at its capital city, Buenos Ayres. The great Argentine breeding farms are nearly all in the. vicinity of the city. Here are the homes of such costlv and celebrated horses as Cyllene. .Tardy, Diamond Jubilee. Polar Star and others of little lesser fame. The broodmares In these great studs were purchased in England and France regardless of cost and their produce is sold for prices that stagger belief. At the annual sales held in September of this year, all precedents in this regard were shattered, lavish as have been the sums paid there for young horses in former years. It is appropriate that our own harassed breeders should have a glimpse of the abounding prosperity of their South American brethren and here are some of the results of the big sales referred to.
