DISQUALIFICATION AT MARLBORO. Action Officially Displeases Backers of Duncraggan, but Is Considered Just. Washington, D. C, November 4. The running of the last race at Marlboro this afternoon was attended by the first disqualification of the meeting, awl it caused a great protest. Duncraggan, after having been backed from 3 to 1 to 7 to 5, led all the way and in a hard drive beat Hedge Rose by half a length. But nolmes, who had the mount on Duncraggan, in his desire to get to the front at the start, cut across his company and threw several horses against the fence. The decision of the judges was really a just one, as Muff and Hedge Rose suffered considerably aud the raco run by Hedge Rose showed that she would have been returned an easy winner but for the interference. When Duncraggan was disqualified, first place was given to Hedge Rose, with Belle Mawr second and El Bart third. Patsy Branigan, who is said to really be the owner of the disqualified horse, created such a disturbance that he was escorted to the gate. The Prince George County Steeplechase, which was won by the favorite, Dufiield, was also marred by rough riding, which brought about the suspension of jockey Ned Henderson for the rest of the meeting. Henderson, who rode Garterman, sent hi3 mount into the lead right after the start and Garterman led by a big margin until after the last jump had been cleared, when Dutlield, closing with a rush, began to cut down the leaders advantage. At the head of the stretch, Dufiield had overtaken Garterman and then Henderson resorted to rough riding in an effort to get his mount home first. He bumped Dutlield several times and it Is also said that he struck Dufiield with his whip. But the last named was much the best and he reached tho finish first by a neck. He could have won by a greater margin had his rider desired.
