COURT COMPLICATIONS OVER GRIF. Lexington, Ky.. November 14. Grif, a two-year-old bay colt by Griffon Belle of Ashland, was sold at public auction here yesterday afternoon and was bought by Mayor John Skaiu for 01. The purchaser also takes over the contract to pay to T. C. McDowell 50 whenever the colt wins a race. Last .May the colt was purchased from Major McDowell by the noted colored jockey "Soup" Perkins, for the sum of 50 and winning contingency of 50. Perkins died at Hamilton. Out., last August, and the horse remained in the possession of his wife until a few weeks ago, when suit was filed in the Fayette Circuit Court by R. L. Tilton, of Rising Sun. Ind., who claimed that he is the owner ot halt JriteresFih t lie horse, and took him under sllkeMc tihKVr of rtelVvcry as the surviving partner. The action regarding the ownership of the horse Is now pending before the Fayette Circuit Court.
