The latter was unlucky at the start and closed a big gap in the last half. HERBERT TURNER quit after running forwardly to Uie stretch. EAGLE BIRD raced ROSE QUEEN into defeat in the first half mile, but readily gave way to the winner. ROSE QUEEN set a fast pace to the stretch, but quit in the final drive.
