SENSATIONAL WORK BY A YEARLING. Lexington, Ky., November 1C. The yearling chestnut colt by Disguise Quadruplex. dam of Sterling Towers and Pettijohn, by Order, worked a quarter in 22 seconds and cantered out the three-eighths in over the Kentucky Association course this morning: The -work was witnessed by Charles II. Berry-man, who bred the colt; T. C. McDowell, who is training him, W. Howard McCorkle, who represents A. W. McCracken, of Brandon, Manitoba, a recent purchaser of the colt from Messrs. Charles IT. Ilerryman and John McClintock; also by J. W. May, John McCafTerty, James P. Ross and others. The timing was done by Messrs. McDowell, May and Me-Cafferty. The last-named caught the quarter in 21J. It was the fastest work ever shown over the local track and Mr. McDowell says he is the greatest Colt he ever saddled. Mr. Berryman said tonight that he made a mistake in selling the colt, for which he is reported to have received ,000. Mr. McCracken came here a month ago and personally selected the colt. After working an eighth in 115 for trainer James P. Ross this morning, the chestnut colt by Dick Welles Lady Martha, belonging to A. L. Kirby of Cincinnati, dropped dead. J; B. Campbell is here In the interest of the stakes for the Charleston meeting. The trainers at the local track are proposing a matinee for Saturday, November 25th, the chief feature of which will be a tryout of yearlings.
