JUAEEZ OPENING PLEASES FULLY FOUR THOUSAND SPECTATORS WITNESS RACING AT MEXICAN COURSE. Round tho World Beats Follie Levy in Stako Feature of Excellent Program Management and Patrons Well Satisfied with Opening. El Paso. Tex., November 30. The third meeting of the Jockey Club Juarez began this afternoon under most auspicious circumstances. The attendance was excellent, fully four thousand persons being iu attendance. The weather was a trifle cool, but splendid for racing purposes, as the sun shone brightly all afternoon. The racing was exceedingly spirited and the form of the horses was well observed. The patrons evidently appreciated the good contests, as from tho first race, in which Napa Nick was victorious, to the last, which was won by John Louis, they manifested the keenest interest. Round the AVorld, AA G. Yankes grand filly, won the Dos Republieas Handicap in a drive with Follie Levy and Harrlgan. Molcsworth handled her to excellent advantage, reserving her in the early stages and onlyinaking his move in the final furlong, when she wore Follie Levy down gradually and passed the judges stand with an advantage of half a length. Evidently Follie Levy has not yet become acclimated, as, after showing a high turn of speed, she began to weaken at the end. Harrigan made n good showing, hut had all he could do to stand off Arasee and Irish Gentleman at the finish. Both of these horses ran excellent races. Kntield, on account of his good form in the north last summer, came in for solid support, but failed dismally aud run nowhere like expectations. AA. G. Yanke purchased Oakland this morning from S. Judge, representing O. A. Bianchi, for 1,500. J. G. Follansbee, the newly elected president of the Jockey Club Juarez was present and acted as a steward. Mr. Follansbee expressed himself as highly delighted with the prospects for this winters meeting. Starter Cassidy was in excellent form and dispatched his fields with celerity. Ho used the standing start method today. Jockey AVhatley was suspended by tho starter for tcii days for disobedience at the barrier on Autumn Rose. Nine layers wore in line in the ring, the list being made up of George Rose, AV. G. Yanke. F. Shannou, Roy Offutt. I. Ham. F. Frankel, J. Morris, Shelby Oliver and C. T. Brownfield. There was also a combination book and a field book. The ring was prorated at 1,S00 daily, the cut-in being for two days. Among the spectators, Frank G. Hogan of Pasadena, and A AV. Sinn, one of the leading spirits of the Coeur dAlene Fair and Racing Association, were prominent. Col. Matt Winn expressed himself as thoroughly satisfied with the opening days racing and attendance and with the outlook for the winter.
