WHEATCR0FT HORSES DOING WELL. Edwin C. Ruff, private secretary to I. H. Wlieat-CTOft, writes from Oklahoma that he has received a letter from I. II. Wheatcroft under date of January 12. conveying the information that all the St. James Stable thoroughbreds shipped to Australia last fall are doing finely in the antipodes and that excellent results are expected at the sale to be eon-ducted shortly. Mr. Ruff takes exception to the statement of John Headley, written from Melbourne, that the Wheatcroft shipment had poor accommodations on their voyage across the Pacific. He declares that they were skipped in box stalls, on tht* upper deck of the Kish, one of the best equipped boats in the Australian-America service, that they were well taken care of en route and that they reached their destination in splendid condition, after having been on the water only twenty-nine days. Mr. Wheatcroft. lie adds, feels gratified .that only-six of the shipment of Ids load died en route. Three head died before leaving Vancouver, making a total of sine head, which is less of a loss than was counted on.
