PROPOSED SELLING RACE RULES Lexington Ky April 50 The action of the Ken ¬ tucky State Racing Commission ou Saturday last Ju taking cognizance of the suggestions of Fred A Forsythe for an amendment to the rule governing selling races meets with favor among the horsemen The commission embodied Mr Forsythes suggestions In a resolution which was offered as an amendment to lie over thirty days It reads as follows 1 That the winner be offered at public auction to the highest bidder That in case there is any advance over and above the entered price such ad ¬ vance be considered a fund held in trust by the association where the race was run and to be added by such association to future purses for selling plat ¬ ers for the next ten days over and above the ad ¬ vertised purses for such races In case of such runup occurring near the close of any meeting such runup money to be carried to the next meeting of that association as a trust fund and used as suggested 2 Eliminate the claiming clause in ail selling races and in its stead allow anyone without re ¬ stricting the right to those having a horse entered in any such race the privilege of filing a request within ten minutes after a race is declared official for any horse in that race to be offered at auction the same as the winner the runup money to be dis ¬ tributed as suggested for the winner 3 That all auctions be held in a corner of the paddock where the general public does not con ¬ gregate thus removing a disagreeable feature of this class of racing beyond the observation of the public who come for sport and not to witness a commercial speculation in front of the grandstand
