TRAINING GOSSIP FROM LQUISVILLE LQUISVILLETrack Track Still Muddy and Only Slow Trials Recorded Aubuchon Getting Ready to Rido Again Louisville Ky May 7 Any number of horses which worked at the Downs today were merely cantered preparatory to longer trials tomorrow when the going will ld much improved Those that were out today did their work around the dogs which explains the rather slow time recorded George I Longs Derby candidate Free Lance was given a half mile move preparatory for a good work tomor ¬ row He went the distance in 5 covering the first eighth in 13 the quarter in 27 and three eighths in 3 He worked as if he did not object to running in the mud but at the same time as if he would prefer a dry track In appearance he looked even better than on Sunday when he worked his meeting Captain Feucb ler Is a steward at the Juarez track trackHenderson Henderson Hogans filly Winning Widow had a narrow escape from injury at the Downs this morning She was cantering along briskly and for an Instant got the better of her rider At the same time R F Carmans Coy Lad was being led to a pony on the backstretch Winning Widow cut the pony and Coy Lad apart hut all the horses in the mixup escaped injury injuryAllen Allen Aubuchon a former crack rider who since his suspension several years ago at Oakland Cal has been in the employ of Wayne O Jopllu exer ¬ cising his horses has at last been reinstated and the Kentucky State Racing Commission has granted him a license to ride He is now preparing himself to accept mounts Anbuchon was for a long time connected with the stable of S C Hildreth and rode many winners for that turfman turfmanEagle Eagle Eye a promising threeyearold in George J Longs stable has been thrown out of training for a while owing to ah abscess which has formed on his jaw The colt had a fever today but the veterinarian attending him thinks his ailment is nothing serious seriousIrvln Irvln Simons a prominent theatrical manager of this city has authorized Louis Tauber to collect for him several horses good enough to win races on the Kentucky tracks and that trainer is now on the lookout for anything of promise that he can buy The string when gotten together will be trained by Mr Tauber TauberThe The Kentucky Derby winner of 1909 Stone Street is still in training at the Latonia track and accord ¬ ing to information received at the Downs is work ¬ ing well His owner C E Hamilton has also In training the sprinter Goldproof and he believes he will race again Goldproof Is now nine years old and since he has been off the turf the Hamilton family have been driving him to a buggy and in other ways using him In an endeavor to make his legs sound This noted gelding won the Inaugural scramble at the Downs in 1909 the same day that Stone Street won the Derby for Mr Hamilton They were then both trained by the late John Hall HallThe The unbeaten Hawthorn was the object of great attention today at the Downs when trainer W S Trevey brought him out to do his first work since his arrival from Lexington The great gelding never looked better and after a slow gallop of a mile and a half kicked at everything in sight as he was led through the gate to his stable He gave no Indica ¬ tions of having had a race recently and was as play ¬ ful as a colt running in a field or pasture
