TRIALS OF KINGS PLATE CANDIDATES Opinion Grows That Toronto Feature Winner Will Come from Dymcnt or Seagram Stable Toronto Ont May 7 The stage at which the Kings Plate field begins to separate into those that have a chance and those that can safely be counted out by all but their owners has been reached Less than two weeks remain for the completion of the preparation necessary to enable the horses to run a mile and a quarter in 210 or better Some have demonstrated that for them that time will never arrive but a sufficient number of the other kind remain to assure an interesting race As good work as has been done by a Plater this season was a mile by Mr Seagrams Rustling She worked in company with another Plater the fouryearold Havrock and the speedy Rockvllle The last named was the pacemaker with the Platers gallop ¬ ing at his heels Rockvilles time was a quarter in 25 half in 51 fiveeighths in 104 three quarters in 118 and the mile in 147 Rustlings mile was about 148 The other three Platers of tlie Waterloo stable Head Sea Longus and Purple China did an easy mile in 151 accompanied by the English horse Bezant BezantMr Mr Gormans Marybud went the Plate route In 219 easing up after the first mile which was done in 148 She put in the first half In 52 and threequarters in l20if l20ifJane Jane Shore did a mile gallop in 154 She has a doubtful nigh fore leg and does her work the Eng ¬ lish way of the track the right side to the rail She pulled up soundly and trainer Phair is confident that she will be among the starters and in the money alreadyGold as she has been twice looked like qualifying for the impossibles when lie showed a mile In 152 with not much to spare though his pace was even enough throughout the first half In 55 and three quarters In 124 124The The Dymeiit stable provided the most material for talk when Tropaeoliiim and Heresy went a strong mile with the former showing the way throughout Instead of only part of the way as has been his habit They carried more than their due weight with Trenbel arid Grant in the saddle but they performed their task without the least diffi ¬ culty a mile and an eighth in better than two min ¬ utes lielng recorded The work was a mile and they were cantered on for another furlong The frac ¬ tional times were Quarter 25 threeeighths 37 half 50 fiveeighths 104 threequar ¬ ters 110 mile 144 and mile and an eighth in 159 Perhaps tlie most interesting point of a remarkably good work was the prominent part taken by Tropaeoliiim which has generally been consid ¬ ered as not so useful over a considerable distance as tho little Sain horse Undoubtedly the orange amliijreen is strong this year though the other two Marcovil and Sealed Order will not help much Their work was fiveeighths in 105
