THOROUGHBREDS AT THE NURSERY STUD Thirtyone Yearlings and Thirtythree Sucklings Among Great Band at Bclmont Breeding Farm Lexington Ky July 0 August Belmont chair ¬ man of the Jockey Club has a magnificent band of thoroughbred stallions mares yearlings and suck lings at the farfamed Nursery Stud The collection includes the stallions Kock Sand Hastings Fair Play and Singleton seventy broodmares a dozen or so pensioned mares thirtyone yearlings and thirty three sucklings sucklingsThanks Thanks to the watchfulness of Superintendent Kl Kane and his assistants these horses are all in good health and excellent physical condition They pr sented a most interesting study particularly the yearlings and foals when the writer recently made the rounds of the great farm visiting the stallion barn the liest in the state the yearling stables containing many large roomy boxes and the wood ¬ land pastures dotted here and there with sheltering quarters for the broodmares and their foals foalsThe The yearlings embrace nineteen colts and twelve lillies and they were all named at the time of their registration last November that being an annual practice with the chairman of the appear ¬ ances count quite likely to become popular Thorn Jtill is a chestnut in color and is better made than fcLs 12000 brother Hawthorn He is without the calf knees and Is good all around Fools Cap is a big horse with particularly good legs and feet High Flyer is a halfbrother to Rising Glass a good horse In England and Superintendent Kane thinks a great deal of him Ynba Bill is a colt of magnificent size and shape He looks like an average twoyearold Single Ray is racy looking and may be another Whist Black Walnut Is of the oldfashioned Kng lish type Nicety Is built much on the order filly of unusual length Miss Play is a chestnut in color and Is probably larger than her halfbrother Worth at the same age ageSuperintendent Superintendent Kane said that he had not received
