UPSETTING ANOTHER BREEDING THEORY These continuous Derby victories of horses by Cylleue must be galling to followers of Bruce Low If there was one sound conclusion arrived at by Bnice Lowe from his study of past statistics it was that no horse of the No 9 family could become a great sire For some years after the publication of the book this contention was not upset Beudigo a great race horse in England and Commotion In Australia were No 9s that failed and It was the same with Navigator and Trident although Navi ¬ gator certainly got few chances Mr Allison used to lay it down that one thing Bruce Lowe had shown us and that was that no horse of the familj was likely to sire a great classic winner Alas that theory like so many other theories in regard to breeding has gone by the board Cyllenc a No 9 horse has taken the liberty of siring four Derby winners in Cicero Minoru Lemberg and Tagalle Melbourne Australasian
