TORONTOS NEW HALFMILE TRACK Toronto Out August 17 The Inaugural race meeting will be held at the Toronto Driving Clubs new Hillcrcst track at the fpoj of Wells Hill to tho west of the north end of Kathnrst street from Tuesday next until the following Tuesday both days inclusive Two months ago the property con ¬ sisted of a vegetable garden surrounded by a quan ¬ tity of waste land It has now been transformed into a complete uptodnto wellequipped racing I property The track is of the halfmile sort and was built under the supervision of W M Murray It is eggshaped thus modifying the extreme turns customary on similar tracks tracksStabling Stabling for 150 horses has already l oen com ¬ pleted and work is under way for the erection of 100 moro stalls Jockeys rooms trainers rooms cloak and coat rooms In fact every accommodation that can he required has been provided A covered stand has been erected to seat 2500 people while bleachers built on the amphitheater style will seat 2500 or ° 000 more A covered letting ring has been constructed back of the stands A board walk leads to the grandstand from the entrance which is situated at the terminal of the Ilathurst Dupont and radial car lines Plenty of space is allowed for automobiles and carriages carriagesA A prettier outlook with tho hills to the north covered with foliage and verdure could not be de ¬ sired The property will l o open for inspection on Monday morning In the meantime the program for the first two days has heen issued and subsequent races will be arranged according to the requirements No puri of less value than 300 while several of 400 anil 500 each will me offered Seven or eight races aiday will be given starting at 2 oclock oclockAlderman Alderman Samuel McKride is president and II Lock secretarytreasurer The officials of the meet ¬ ing will be Kd Cole judge wiili Jlr MeKrido associate judge W M Murray starter and W H Norvell racing secretary secretaryMost Most of the horses that took part in the recent Dulferin Park meeting are still here having re ¬ mained to participate in the racing at this new course i
