Ihe management of ihe new Jockey club has been negotiating with Judge Joseph A. Murphy, of St. Louis, to accept the posi-lioa of managing director of the club, and a letter was received from him yesterday slating that h« would accept tin- appointment. As well as baring charge of the plant, he will be the presiding steward during the mi-etings to be held there. Joseph A. Murphy is well known to Canadian horsemen, having nerved for many years as presiding stewnrd at the nectiag* of the Hamilton .lockey Club.
