Murphy — Track to Be Ready in July. * Montreal. Que.. January 22. — An announcement va- made ye teiilay by one of the promoters of the new racing plant al Dorval. which is to he known i* Borral Park, that will be pleasing to ihose who follow t!i" thoroughbreds. Ihe management of ihe new Jockey club has been negotiating with Judge Joseph A. Murphy, of St. Louis, to accept the posi-lioa of managing director of the club, and a letter was received from him yesterday slating that h« would accept tin- appointment. As well as baring charge of the plant, he will be the presiding steward during the mi-etings to be held there. Joseph A. Murphy is well known to Canadian horsemen, having nerved for many years as presiding stewnrd at the nectiag* of the Hamilton .lockey Club. He is a man of wide experience in racinu In his letter he states his willingness lo accept rka management mi condition that tin- new club becomes athli.-iieil with ihe Canadian Baring Association-, which it is its intention to do. Ii is not likely that the bookmakers will hoil forth al Dorval Park, as ihose interested in the ven tun- an- considering the advisability of installing the inutuel machines for tin betting ring. Figures hare already tioeii obtained for eighteen machines, and the ring will lie especially built to accommodate them. This will be the second track in Canada to install the inutuel system exclusively, as the mi chines an- now being used for the meetings of Ihe Ontario Jockey Club at W Ibine Park. Toronto. The lenders for Ihe construction nf the new plant have been let and it will be ready to race over In inly.
