HAVRE DE GRACE PROSPECTS EXCELLENT Havre de Grace Md April 15 The spring meet ¬ ing of the Harford Agriculture and Breeders Asso ¬ ciation is to liegln here on Friday next and all indi ¬ cations point to one of the most successful meetings ever held in the state of Maryland Judging from the number and quality of the stake entries and the applications for stabling accommodation the cali ¬ bre of the sport will leave little to be desired By the time the meeting opens there will be six hundred horses quartered at the course and more will come within a day or two after the opening The course is in a condition to inwide fast and safe racing So great has been the demand for stalls that many I applicants have been reluctantly turned away by the management managementThe The speculation during this meeting will lie con ¬ ducted through the medium of the bookmaker The ring will lie under the direction of John G Cavanagh of New York who managed the betting rings on the Jockey Club tracks for many years Cavanagh has full authority and that means order rcsponsl billty and decency in the Havre de Grace pavilion The meeting will last twelve days during which twelve stakes will be decided ranging from 1000 to 1500 added The overnight purses will range from f 100 to 500 500Racing Racing Secretary Fred Uehberger will arrive at the track from New York tomorrow Baltimore and Washington are beginning to fill with siwrtsmen who openingGeneral are anxiously awaiting the opening General Manager Edward Burke has been on hand for several weeks attending to the preliminaries
