FOUR STAKES FOR JAMESTOWN. Norfolk, Va., October 1. The management of the Jamestown Jockey Club announces the opening of four stakes to he run during its fall meeting to bo held here November 13-20, inclusive. They include the Merchants Selling Stakes, for all ages, six furlongs, value ,000; the Lyilnliaven Hotel Handicap, for two-year-olds, six furlongs, value 1,000; the Monticello Hotel Handicap, for all ages, one mile, value ,200, and the Thanksgiving Selling Handicap, for all ages, one mile and a sixteenth, value ,000. Judging from present indications the Jamestown Jockey Club will have its banner meeting, as applications are coming in from all parts requesting stable room. The book of conditions will be issued by Racing Secretary Joseph McLennan about the last week in Octolier. Other officials for tlie meeting will be: Stewards, Joseph A. Murphy and Frank J. Bryan: starter, A. B. Dade: presiding judge, Edward Cole; associate judge. Fred W. Gerhardy: clerk of the scales, Herman P. Conkling: paddock judge, Harry White; tinier, George T. Miller. Mortimer M.
