LADY LIGHTNING was a close contender all the way, but her weight told on her in the stretch drive. BOB LYNCH ran fairly well and saved ground all the way. SUSAN B. sprinted into a long lead in the early running and easily held her own when CZAR MICHAEL challenged. The latter ran a good race and, after having closed a big gap from a slow start, finished fast. NORTHERNER was away poorly and worked his way up on the outside into a fast going third. HlRAKAN was off slowly and never improved her position. CROSSBUN and GARL tired in the going iifier racing prominently to the homestretch. BATTERY closed a big gap from a slow start and, finishing fast, barely failed to get up. LORD WELLS began from tlic extreme outside and ran well, but could never get up.
