FORMFUL RACING AT HILLCREST. Toronto, Ont., Octolier 1. The second day of the Hillcrest meeting attracted another good crowd this afternoon, conditions being ideal. Five of the eight favorites were successful, while Euterpe, Ca-rissima and .dirsar. all heavily backed "good things." also earned brackets, so the public had a profitable experience. A killing was attempted on Sati, whose odds were reduced from 20 to 1 to .1 to 1, In tin; third race. Slit! weakened after leading to the stretch, but was a close third. Close finishes were the order, the fourth, fifth and sixth races being won by short margins after hard stretch drives. For hitting jockey J. Deavenport with his whip during the running of the third race, jockey Fergusons mounts will be confined to the stable of his contract employer, E. Lutz, iu future. Deavenport was lined 5 for breaking up starts with Curious in tlie sixtli race. J. H. Moody today purchased the two-year-old Mary Pickfonl from W. II. Frey.
