BELMONT HOUSES IN FORM S. C. HILDRETH SADDLES TWO MORE WINNERS FOR JOCKEY CLUB CHAIRMAN. Stromboli, in Winning Two-Year-Old Allowance Race Unextended, Equals Now Track Record Made Earlier in the Day by Yankee Notions. Baltimore, Mil., October 10. The horses of August Belmont, chairman o the Jockey Club, won two of the six races at Laurel this afternoon. Fittcrgold, the brother to Fair Day. took the opcii-injj dash handily from Addle M.. and in the lifth Stromboli, by Fair Ilay St. PriscMla, and consc-iiiently a half-brother to Priscillliin, was the winner. Stromholis victory was bis second at Laurel, making the lteliiiont score four races for the meeting. The victory of Stromboli was earned easily, the western Canada youngster, Gotclus, failing to make him extend himself at the end. Gotclus performance, however, was highly creditable, lie carried top weight of 122 pounds and was in the thick of the struggle all the way. Mr. Rchuont might have scored another victory with Bclaniour in the third race bad not the horses saddle slipped. Tommy McTaggart came back to the stand with the saddle banging on the side of bis mount. It. T. Wilsons Yankee Notions, which soeins to be coming back to bis good form of last fall, took this race rather comfortably in the best time of the meeting for the distance, the five and a lialf furlongs being run in 1:00. a new track record. Stromboli equaled this mark in winning the fifth. Hobnob, while at the- post for this race, broke away from Johnny McTaggart and made two circuits of the track before be was pulled up ami, artcr the finish, he went another half. lie ran the lirst mile in 1:44. Old Sir John Johnson showed a Hash of bis old form in showing the way to the bead of the stretch. Ho faltered towards the end, but was only beaten for second money by a nose. Mollie S.. winner of the fourth race, was bid up after her victory from 1913.sh00 to .,005, at which k figure she was retained. Sam Louis did the bidding. m Deduction, fnuu-llu. .same stable, which won the I sixth race lyas also bifiv up 00 and was likewise K, F. Cooney, who races a string of horses that includes Guy Fisher aud Punch Bowl, was taken suddenly sick at the Kalelgb Hotel in Washington last night and vas removed to the Garfield Hospital. Jockey Willie Allen departed for Piping Rock tonight to ride Leumas for Samuel Ross in a steeplechase. In the five years that Allen has been riding be has piloted OS winners over the jumps. Itoxie Angarola today sold the two-year-old Cooster to 1. 15. Bernstein, a local jeweler. The horse will be turned over to Max Hirsch to train. J. O. Talbott scratched Fred Mulhollaud today on account of the death of his father.
