GOVERNOR IS AGAINST B00KMAKING, Baltimore, Md.. October 10. Gov. Philip L. Golds-borough today declared it to be bis Intention to conduct a campaign designed to suppress bookmaking on the Maryland race tracks. He said the fight will be waged in the next legislature. "A law prohibiting bookmaking as it is now carried on at certain race tracks is the only effective way to stamp out this form of lntting." said the governor. "We were unsuccessful iu our appeals to the courts check race track gambling In this state and now it is realized that the only sure means Is remedy by legislation." Havre de Grace and Laurel are the tracks at which bookmaking is conducted. At Pimllco and other Baltimore County courses the parl-niutuels are employed.
