ROB HEXSLEY, much the best in the going, was prominent from the start, took an early lead and, despite a poor ride, held HOLTOX safe through the final sixteenth. HOLTON began slowly and had to elose a big gap in the first half and was tiring as a result at the end. ROBERT KAY ran well and was forced to go wide most of the way. BARNARD was kept well up from the start and, standing the final drive gamely, moved into a small lead in the last seventy yards, and won drawing clear. GALLEY SLAVE dropped far back n the first quarter, but closed a great gap and came fast in the stretch. TODDLING saved much ground on the stretch turn, but tired slightly in the last sixteenth. GEORGE OXNARD began slowly and closed a big gap. TRANSPORT showed speed, but quit in the last quarter. UNCLE DICK also quit badly after setting the pace to the stretch. The latter showed the most early speed, but was taken up on the last turn, then was driven hard In the stretch. MARIA C. ran well to the stretch aud tired in the last eighth. ADAIR trailed far back for the first three-quarters, but saved ground when turning into the stretch and finished gamely. HENRY RITTE showed the most speed for the first three-quarters and tired. RASH quit after going a half mile. The winner, entered for 00, was bid up to ,200 and sold to Mrs. R. M. Farmer. Overweights Rash, 1 pound. IDA LAVINIA ran in nearest pursuit to the stretch and tired in the last eighth. TOMBOY came fast after making a slow beginning. TAVOLARA showed brief speed. SIXTH RACE 3-4 Mile.
