ROD AND GUN moved up rapidly while rounding the far turn, but was driving and tiring at the end and just lasted long enough to save second place. LITTLE. ENGLAND closed a big gap and, finishing with a rush, would have won in a few more strides. BLACK CHIEF ran into a slight lead on the stretch turn and, after losing it, held on gamely to the end.
