JOCKEY IS SERIOUSLY HURT SNYDER VICTIM OF ACCIDENT THAT MAY HAVE FATAL TERMINATION. Boy Is Thrown from Yearling at Palmetto Park Big Shipment of Horses from Latonia Reaches Charleston. Charleston, S. C, November 10. Jockey W. Snyder, who is umler contract to Dr. J. i$. Tyree. sustained injuries this morning that may terminate fatally. Tile diminutive rider was astride one of Ids employers yearlings and was returning to the ttahlc after a gallop on the track. The young racer took fright and while prancing about became tangled in some wildwecd and fell. Snyder landed directly beneath the colt and the latter, in his effort to rise, struck Snyder with his front foot, indicting a deep gash in the boys head. Snyder was rushed with all .speed to tiie local hospital, where examination disclosed that lie was in a seriouss condition. Some hope is entertained for his recovery. Snyder only recently recovered from the effects of a bad fall in Canada last summer, in which lie sustained several fractured ribs and other injuries. The Latonia special train, composed of ten cars of horses, two sleepers, baggage cars, coaches and a diner, reached here here early this morning after a fast and satisfactory run from the Mill-dale- track. Thehorses arrived in tine fettle and not a mishap marred the trip. There were one hundred and six passengers on the train. Owners who had consignments on the train included J. II. MeCarrcn, K. W. Moore, L. .Marion. .7. C. Calm, T. Abadie, C. Bills, II. McCoulsky, C. Wilson, L. Tauber, W. .1. Speirs, It. II. Clark, J. M. Drown, J. W. Johnson, It. K. Campbell, Canibron and West, T. Geriug, A. G. Woodman, .1. McKinney and S. It. Howser. Fine weather is prevailing and the track is In excellent condition to work over. The fair now in progress is not interfering with training operations. G. W. Langdou, who has charge of .T. W. Mes-servys horses, lias decided to lire Addie M. anil rest her until spring. He will start Charlestouian in the Inaugural Handicap at Palmetto Park. Tliye are already- a .good many racing folk in Charleston and reservations made at tim hotels iu-P dicate a record-breaking crowd for the opening. Many of the visitors will not arrive until the day of tiie opening, because of the lack of an Interval between the close of racing at Jamestown and the ojiening at Ialmetto Iark.
