WINTERING AT SHEEPSKEAD BAY. New York, November 19. With the return of racing to New York state the old course of the Coney Island Jockey Club at Sheepshead Bay has agaiu become a popular winter training ground for horsemen. Several of the strings of thoroughbreds that finished out their racing year with the sport in Maryland have been shipped back to Long Island to await the opening next spring and "the bay" has its share, of horses. The most recent arrivals were the horses of Allan Piukerton that were brought on from Pimlico by trainer W. Freeman. In the lot are the two-year-olds Andes and Bombay and four huuters. Andes is a Piping Rock Subscription youngster that made good. II. It. Williams, a newcomer to racing, is another who has his horses at the SheeDshead Bay course. In all, Mr. Williams has a dozen horses, eight of them being yearlings and four two-year-olds. In the two-year-old division he has a brother to Jack Atkin. Barney Schrelbers famous sprinter of a few seasons back; a brother to Stanley Fay. and a brother to Mater, Ral Parrs two-year-old filly tlmt has been raced with a fair measure of success by William Garth this season. Dave Leary lias sent Hurakan home to rest for the winter. She is a particularly smart two-year-old filly that was purchased out of the dispersal sale of tiie horses of the late Charles Kohler at Belmont Park, ami she earned her way during the racing year. Max Hirscli has two in winter quarters and there are scores of others on hand, while others ure on the way. Many of the stables house yearlings that wlli be lifted for what is to be offered about New York next season.
