NOTES OF THE TURF IN OTHER LANDS. Lord Durham will again have first claim upon the riding services of J. Clark next season. The eminent trainer, Charles- Morton, will not retire from training at the end of the present season, as lias been reported. November 11 Louis Winans good mare Lady Eileen, fractured her pelvis while at exercise and bleel to death. She was a five-year-old by Robert le Diable Fairy Martin, and as a good stayer and weight carrier won several Important races for Mr. Winans, who bought her for ,000 last year. Mr. Andrew J. .Toyner left for America on Thursday of last week for a short holiday. He hopes to be liack In England soon after the New Year. During the time lie is in the States, Joyner will look over some of Mr. Whitneys young horses. Next season several of Lord Londsdales two-year-olds will be trained by Joyner. Frank Bullock, the jockey, having finished his engagement in Germany, has returned to Newmarket, where he has taken Lansdowne House, lately vacated by E. Watts, who went to Germany to train. Bullock will ride first jockey for Reginald Days stable next year. Baron Gourgaud has sold De Viris to the French Government Stud Commission. The son of Slni-ouian and Biella as a three-year-old kael a brilliant career, winning the Prix de Fontainebleau. the Brussels Grand Prix, the Poule dEssai. and the Prix du President de la Republique. This year he won the Prix Hermit at Saint-Cloud. His total wins amount to 1,054. No betting was returned on the Doveridge Plate at Derby Novemlier 11. as what little wagering there was took place after the flag had fallen. It is very rare that a race fails to provoke any speculation, but a couple of years ago Hornets Beauty was only opposed by Dart II. and Prairie Fire In an event at Nottingham, and as the affair appeared such a foregone conclusion for the "Beauty," no totting resulted.
